Celebrities and Motorcycles: What They Ridemotoplex | January 11, 2021 | 0 | Harley Davidson , Lists , Triumph
When you think of celebrities, the first thing that may come to mind is flashy suits, paparazzi, and glamour. While these larger than life people often spend most of their time in the limelight, it’s easy to forget that they’re regular people, just like us. They have pets, a favorite ice cream flavor, and have passions outside of a celebrity lifestyle. For many, that passion lies in motorcycles. Driving a car, you can often zone out during a lazy Sunday drive, but riding a motorcycle takes one hundred percent of your focus and forces you to live in the moment. This is something many celebrities enjoy and can help them take their minds off of their stressful lives. These ten celebrities all share something other than fame, a passion for motorcycles.
Best known for films like the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy, “Moulan Rouge”, and the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+, Ewan McGregor has been riding long before he became a celebrity. He used to spend his days at the racetrack with his friends in his teen years and has since brought that passion into his career. Alongside fellow rider and friend Charley Boorman, McGregor has created two documentary series called “Long Way Round” and “Long Way Up”, featuring their adventures riding from London to New York across Eastern Europe, Russia, and the Channel Tunnel. Long Way Up covers the duo’s journey from the bottom of South America to Los Angeles. Most recently, he has been spotted riding the prototype Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric motorcycle, the first electric bike produced by a major manufacturer.
Keanu Reeves has been on a hot streak during the 2010’s. Most famous for the “Matrix” Trilogy (and soon, “Matrix 4”) as well as the “Bill and Ted” films, this actor has taken his passion for motorcycles to the next level. He is the founder and owner of Arch Motorcycle company. Founded in 2011 alongside custom bike builder Gard Hollinger, the company has manufactured three models, the KRGT-1, 1s, and the Method 143. Keanu has long been passionate about riding, and his favorite was his custom Harley-Davidson. He had employed Hollinger to help him customize the bike and was so pleased with the result that they decided to form their own company.
Pink is a well-known rock and pop musician. Most are unaware of her second passion in life, riding motorcycles. She even made an appearance in the second “Charlie’s Angels” film in the mid-2000’s during the high-octane motocross scene. She’s also married to ex-motocross pro racer Carey Hart. Some of her favorite bikes include the Harley-Davidson Sportster and a custom Triumph T100 Bonneville. She was recently gifted a brand-new custom army-camo Indian Scout as a birthday gift from her hubby.
Michael Fassbender is a terrific actor known for playing roles such a Steve Jobs and Magneto in the “X-Men” franchise. His love of motorcycles is well documented, and sometimes follows him into his professional acting career. He starred in 2009’s “Man on a Motorcycle” about a motorcycle courier in London that is down on his luck. He performed most of the motorcycle stunts for the film himself. Recently, he embarked with his father on a 5,000-mile motorcycle tour of Europe. He is a huge fan of the Triumph brand and owns a Triumph Triple Speed 1050.
Norman Reedus is another actor that has blended his passion for motorcycles with his acting career- most notably for his large role in “The Walking Dead” as well as the “Boondock Saints”. Norman’s character, Daryl, in TWD is synonymous with riding a Harley and carrying a crossbow as he braves the zombie apocalypse. He also stars in a docu-series called “Ride with Norman Reedus” where he and guest stars travel to various cities exploring biker culture. He rides his Triumph Tiger almost religiously, and it is heavily featured in his show.
This muscled action star came very close to death in a well-documented motorcycle crash in 2017. Instead of shying away from the sport, the actor remains passionate about riding in true Spartan style. He’s been known to take lengthy bike tours across Asia and Europe. He owns a large collection of bikes, but his favorite brand is Triumph.
